first of all if you have to experience pain to experience pleasure or vise versa, how could you ever experience either until a magic moment when you expeirenced them both at once? the whole notion is idiotic and reeks of blind ignorant myth making.

second, I find most of them saying that if God prevented things, we would have no freewill.... which I find another load of crap. even the bible does not exempt people from warning others if a danger exists and punishes them if they do not warn and someone is injured because of it.

if any father today discovers his son is about to go to school and blow away a teacher or other students and does nothing to prevent it, he will not be given any slack for his concern in preserving his son's free will. and no one will think him a good father and roll model.

Matthew Chap 24, generation applies ONLY for 1st century

when reading the prophecy in matthew 24 about the end it is obvious that the last generation thing the jws bring up is complete nonsense.

there are two strands here, one for the end of jerusalem and the jewish state and a second for the end of the times of the nations.

the generation mentioned only applies to the first strand since jesus refers to them as: this generation and it was indeed in its time that jerusalem was ruined, about 40 years later.

among the 4 gospels the phrase THIS GENERATION occurs about 9 or so times, and in all of them but Matthew 24, everyone I have ever heard or read, agrees that it referred to THAT group of people ALIVE at the time.... and Jesus was pretty clear about it on severl of those occasions comparing THE GENERATION which saw him alive to prior ones..etc.

there is nothing about THIS GENERATION in matthew 24 which shows it meant anything else, but one reason that most dont accept its plain definition is that they see Jesus saying ALL THESE THINGS will occur before THIS generation passes...and that would seem to make Jesus obviously wrong as that generation did pass and many of those things did not happen.... no judgement, no end of the world, not return of Jesus to seperate those taken and those left behind, etc.....

many are the excuses and theories and myths to explain why Jesus was not and could not ever be wrong....yet, if he was a real man, he most certainly could have been a fraud.

That was the very question I asked on my exodus from the BORG....

if NOT JW, then who?

but I found that along the way, the THEN WHO? is already a false question. It assumes that some group already exists that knows THE TRUTH and that there IS a god or god[s] that ARE real... assumptions are very very insidious.... another standard assumption is that binary logic is valid...that every question can be boiled down to yes or no/1 or 0.

using Binary logic, people like JWs create logic traps that make it SEEM like their veiw is the only rational view.... but often its just a house of empty cards built upon questionable assumptions and many excuses for any lack of tangible evidence.

I determined to remain honest to my experiences and beliefs no matter where they would lead me and to challenge all assumptions within myself when ever I could find them or have them pointed out to me....

so I found Agnosticism the only honest approach, perhaps you can find something else.

Why am I not bitter?

many people on this board seems to be a bit bitter and angry.

many do feel a form of hate towards the gb or even witnesses in general.. i do understand that many feel this way, some have all rigths to be bitter.. wy do i not feel like that?

i am not bitter, nor hate the gb or witnesses.

I am not bitter with the BORG but I do sometimes attack the ideas and belief of christianity in general now as I feel I was conned and do not wish anyone else to be fleeced by predatory shepherds.

i think the main reason is not because of what they bible teaches, but rather what it leaves out.

the other myths of mankind over explain everything to the point of absurdity in later generations....

is a myth by definition false? no.... myths are stories that seek to explain real experiences... science to me is mostly mythological

as I dont know anyone who can transcend their own perceptions of things to see reality as it is.

Heisenberg also proved that the ultimate nature of reality, assuming that is what any of our tools are even seeking to measure, cannot be know because the very act of measuring alters what one is attempting to measure which leads to a very fuzzy picture of reality at its core and all sorts of odd interpretations like the many worlds theory etc.

from my perspective there are only expeirences and beliefs about them [a different order of experience]... those who pretend to KNOW anything more than that have never demonstrated any ability to do so to my satisifaction, what about you?

but the bible is more like the old bugs bunny cartoons.... they were not made for idiots or children but for adults

and as you grow older you see more and more things you had no clue about as a child....

the bible also has a lot of oddities tossed into the mix that let the mind run wild.... like where did Cain get his wife?

what was Jesus doing from age 12 to 30?

The trinity is popular because the bible never actually spells it out and and gives enough odd sayings and near contradiction to allow

people to read it backwards into the text....leading to debates which began from nearly the beginning of christianity.

Then, into what category does the Watchtower Society fall, after its 120 year history of false prophecy in saying that
Armageddon is "Soon"? If they have been dead wrong across more than a century, in setting dates and encouraging
false expectations, how can they pretend to be anything except false religion? Does "false" MEAN false?

same catagory the ones who wrote the bible who they took their B elief S ystem from .... it was the bible authors who many times said it was SOON....

my search has always been for THE TRUTH, I thought I had found it in JWs, but learned I was mistaken....

live and learn. (^_^).

I found that shepherds are predators who fleece and slaughter sheep... the bible is a con artists manuel, those who get it

become shepherds and proceed to fleece their flock.

Speaking in tongues

there's something which has crossed my mind too often, after doing some research, meeting people myself- i have become more convinced that speaking in tongues was mis interpretered wrongly by the pentecostals.

i would be interested to hear jw's view of speaking in tongues and why jehovah witness classify them as one of the christodom.

which of their any of their customs/traditions which bible doesnt support, i am just trying to make myself aware, with help if possible.. clarification would be much appreciated

what I would be interested in, is hearing from any pentacostals who converted to JW [likely now not JW] who did speak in tongue prior to their BORG assimilation and what they NOW think of the phenomenon
